Appointments
Appointments can ONLY be made by calling 01334 476840 after 08:30am, Monday to Friday.
When making an appointment you can choose to consult with the Doctor or Nurse of your choice. You will be asked by a member of the administration team for a little information about the reason for your appointment. This is so they can identify the best source of help for you. The information is entirely confidential. Read our Who’s who guide to help you to work out who to see.
Appointments are 10 minutes long and are available between 08:30am and 17:00pm, Monday to Friday. The availability of routine GP appointments is generally within 5 working days, although this may be longer if the GP you wish to consult with is away from the Practice. If the Doctor or Nurse you wish to consult with is not available then you can choose to make an appointment with another member of the Practice team. If you feel it is medically important that you are attended to more quickly, then please explain this and we will either give you an appropriate appointment, or we will arrange for a clinician to call you back, who will then assess the urgency of your problem – See Triage for more information.
If you are asked to attend for a face-to-face appointment at the Practice, we ask that you are punctual, ideally arriving at least 5 minutes prior to your appointment to account for parking and checking in. We do our best to run to time although sometimes delays are unavoidable due to emergency presentations or complex issues. If you are late or miss your appointment altogether you will be asked to reschedule for another time.
Please be aware that the car parking at St Andrews Community Hospital is restricted. We advise, if possible, that you use public transport, walk or cycle. If bringing your car please leave yourself plenty of time to find a space. Please check-in for your appointment by using one of the Pipeland self-check in desks on the right hand side as you enter the hospital, which will tell you which of the two waiting areas you should wait in (North or South). To access the South waiting area please walk along the corridor BEHIND the Practice reception desks rather than in front of it.
Extended Hours
The Practice offers Extended Hours appointments for any patient who finds it difficult to consult during normal hours. These sessions run from 07:30 – 08:30 and 17:30-19:45 throughout the week. Please telephone for more information. Due to the limitations of this service and the limited number of appointments on offer we would respectfully request that you only ask for an appointment during these times if you genuinely cannot make it to the surgery during normal hours.
Cancellations
If for any reason you are unable to attend your appointment, please let us know in advance, with as much notice as possible, so that we can offer the appointment to another patient.
